Why do I need to use a plastic bald cap instead of a latex bald cap?
Replicator is an addition-cure silicone rubber (also known as a platinum-cure system). Addition-cure silicone rubbers are very sensitive to what they come in contact with. Certain substances may cause inhibition with addition-cure silicone rubbers. One of those substances is sulfur. Even trace amounts of sulfur can cause cure inhibition. Latex based bald cap products contain sulfur. Therefore if Replicator is applied to the surface of a latex bald cap, cure inhibition will occur. Plastic bald caps do not contain sulfur and therefore are safe for use when making a full head mold using Replicator.
